More newspaper at Art Van Go! 29th - 31st August - part the first

One of the many very beautiful pieces of newspaper layered with painted Bondaweb.

I will make this a two part post - I have so many images to show you, you would be asleep by end of the post if I put them all into one. My new newspaper based workshops seem to be very popular. It is great fun to be able to share a new passion with so many lovely ladies.

I love teaching at Art Van Go - www.artvango.co.uk  everyone is so well looked after there. It always good to spend time with Viv and Kevin who own the business - they are excellent company and VERY good fun! I do miss them if I haven't seen them for a while. The shop has everything that you could possibly wish for to create stunning work, including the gilding flake, dot jewels and acrylic wax that we used on the course.

The workshop was 'A new starting point' and had been full for several months which is very encouraging. We used newspaper to start with, then the students started using road atlases and maps that they had brought from home once they got the idea of what we were doing. You can use any kind of paper with this technique - I just happen to enjoy using newspaper. The following two images use torn maps with painted Bondaweb.

This piece was created by Ruth - Gorgeous!

. . . and this one by Sue

There were two very lovely ladies from the Cardigan area of Wales on the course. They were great fun and produced some fabulous work. Unfortunately they had to leave at lunch time on Friday to avoid the traffic. They have promised that next time they come, and I do so hope they do, that they will stay the Friday night. We would have great fun going out together.

Two pieces by the lovely ladies from Wales.

The lovely ladies themselves

This gorgeous piece was created and then stitched into by Debby - who was great fun, a joy to have in the group.

The two book covers above were created by Hannah who was very productive, good fun and kept us all very amused. The finished newspaper pieces were ironed onto the new Decovil 1, a fabulous new iron on interfacing, for flexible strength.

All of the books above were decorated by Sue showing just how useful scraps of paper can be!

Viv chatting to the students and watching them cut their shapes.

I took my Big Shot Pro die cutting machine along with me to enable the group to cut out jewellery blanks and boxes using the the very heavy iron on interfacing - S133 (also known on www.nid-noi.com as heavy pelmet Vilene plus).

Just a few of the shapes the group cut with my machine - they just need to add brooch backs or earring studs and they are away.

I will post again tomorrow with the boxes and the faux chenille the group created.
